Trains are a common interest for many individuals on the autism spectrum, and this fascination is not just a quirky preference—it's often linked to the sensory and cognitive experiences that trains provide. 

But why are trains so captivating for some autistic individuals?

One key reason autistic people may be drawn to trains is their predictable nature. Trains operate on fixed schedules and follow set routes, which can be comforting for individuals who thrive on routine. 

According to a study published in Frontiers in Psychology, "Autistic individuals often display a preference for structured environments, which provide a sense of order and predictability" (Happé et al., 2017). The regularity of trains, with their fixed patterns, aligns with this need for consistency.
